HOH, where did Dan get his internet knowledge?
I am nearly finished and rather enjoying the book. One thing I'm curious about is how much online experience the authors have, or where they got their information. There is often discussion of online tournaments both SNGs and MTTs and there are often statements like "players online often will play any two suited cards in that spot." All these comments seem spot on but I'm still curious how much they have played online.
On another note, Mason didn't you say Harrington would start posting here? |

Agreed, I also found myself wondering about that while reading. Somehow I just don't see Harrington with a mouse in his hand. Unless he's sitting on his porch with a blanket over his legs and a laptop in his...well, lap.

You've dreamt up quite the Harrington scenario there, haven't you? What, no glass of sweet tea by his side?

Re: HOH, where did Dan get his internet knowledge?
Harrington probably plays on the Internet, as do most top pros to atleast some extent.
The comments were very accurate. However, a lot of what he describes is typical calling station play. People limp in with almost anything and then call a raise to 5xBB. They call a half pot bet on the flop without much. I have found that players in $100 B&M MTTs play this way early on. In a $600 online MTT, it is a much tighter game early on. The same is true of the 2-table Step 3s (but not the Step 1s). B&M NL 1/2 cash games are like that more than online, where you will have 5 people calling a big raise preflop. I don't think Harrington plays in many low buyin B&M MTTs or sattelites. I think his comments apply to low buyin tournaments in general, not just on the Internet. |
