Are you a psychologist or statistician? I'm not smarting off. I'm sincerely curious about what would lead you to this conclusion.

Myers-Briggs, to the best of my knowledge, has a sample size of millions and has been refined over 3-4 decades. Also, I know a psychologist who strongly believes in the accuracy of this test.

Also note that he can't explain his hypocritical stance on taking money from the fish. He hopes that his attack on me will deflect attention from his transparently self-righteous and self-serving position.

So, Alan, how DO you sleep at night while taking money from all the helpless victims that you exploit at the tables?

I love shoving it all in on a bluff when it really matters.

I love playing final tables, and the anticipation leading up to them.

The feeling you get when you win a tournament is easily the best feeling associated with poker.

People are not stupid and lazy because they lose money at the poker table. Many play poker for entirely different reasons than you do; making money not being one of them. These very same people are often very bright business owners and entrepreneurs that make you look like a stupid little fook outside the game of poker, using your monthly nut for chump change.

I have already acknowledged this. Some people just like to sit down and have some fun and entertainment. Some of these people are very smart and accomplished.

Ehhh.....you know what? My attitude is colored by all the whiney little b*tches at Party Poker. If I played in a casino or for higher stakes than the chump change I play for, I'm sure I'd think differently.

Does anyone else think the original post is a little sick?

Taking money from other people is actually one of my LEAST favorite things about this game. It's wrong to derive pleasure from hurting other people, even when you benefit. This is especially clear in brick-and-mortar cardrooms, where it's sometimes fairly clear that they need the money more than you do. I guess it's a little bit easier online. Sort of like how shooting someone with a gun is easier than stabbing them with a knife, I guess.

Poker is a game where you can see your losing. It is considered gambling and people know it. To me its a skill game and I am glad they don't know it. So if people are losing and they consider it gambling then its their own fault for playing. Its not like we are covering up had bad smoking is on your health or that we are ripping off investors like Enron or Skyway Communications. That is taking advantage of people.

I have no problem winning money from them. If you know gambling is a losing proposition then dont play or ask someone for help on improving. Just like smokers, they know its bad for them (well now a days) and they still smoke. If you get lung cancer its your own damn fault.

Although I do not play with friends. I can't play with friends because I don't play the same. I feel bad walking away a winner in a session with friends.

Thats why I keep aquantances [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] only in the poker world. Well I got one poker friend.

Actually I think poker is cheaper then slapping money down a slot machine or blackjack.

Saw a guy once play poker for 2 hours and lose $200. He was very laggy. He went to play blackjack and I tried to encourage him to stay "poker is cheaper than blackjack my friend" He poo-pooed me a went off. 25 minutes later he came back depressed. I asked him how much he lost and he said $400. I said "have a seat"

It has been taken by millions of people, but the normative sample was not millions. Within the field of psychology it is typically used for career counseling. Its utility is marginal outside of that setting for the most part, it is not often used in clinical settings. It is not a bad instrument and it is certainly an overstatement to say it is not reliable or valid, though many psychologists (yes I am one) see it as a bit of a pop psychology personality inventory that you would see in a magazine.
