Default tournament adjustments?

I know the strategy is set up to win in the long run. If I'm going to win 20% of the time then I might lose 4 in a row before I win on certain hands. My problem is that in tournaments you may not get to that 5th hand if the cards run badly. What sort of shift in the strategy is required for tournaments? I'd appreciate any thoughts.

What kind of tourneys? Limit SNGs, Limit MTTs, what? If it's NL, it belongs in the MTT/SnG NL forums.

Harrington on Hold 'em. It will do for your tournament play what SSH does for your limit game.

Vincent Vega: That is a bold statement!

I'm sure a good deal of it has to do with running hot, but since I started reading this book (I'm still only about 2/3 done) I've been ITM in 5 of 6 SNG/MTT's, including 2 wins. The only one I missed I got some jackoff all in w/KQ vs. my AA on a Q-high flop...he rivered trips. Before that, it was pretty much hit or miss on how I did; I was overbetting a lot of pots & trapping myself into all-in situations way too often.

But much more than just results, I feel like I really know what I'm doing when I'm playing NL tournaments. HOH + watching the hell out of the WPT dvd's has me to the point where I don't feel like dead money when I enter a mid-level buyin tournament.
