Default NFC North

Am I just being an incredible homer thinking the Bears can win the division?

No, you're not. 7-9 might be good enough. 8-8 is a strong chance of outright victory.

The Bears cannot go 7-9. Did you watch Week 1? Orton may get better, but he's not going to get good enough to lead the Bears to mediocrity this season.

I'd still take the Vikings vs. field in the NFC North.

And, yes, I am watching the Min/Cin alongside the Det/Chi game.

Lots of teams look bad on the road against Washington's D. Saying they can't win becasue they lost by 2 on the road is silly. The Bears D is excellent, which is critical when compared to the suck, suck and suck defenses of Minny, GB and Detroit.

This is correct. Washington's got a very, very good defense - esecially at home.

I never said anything about the Packers, or in particular, Favre, doing anything this year.

However, you know as well as I do Detroit's home vs. away records have been astounding home-heavy in the joey era. Although 31 points in one half is quite surprising, I fully anticipated an outclassed Lions team to lose by 10ish points today. You can admit you did too.

Culpepper will not suck this much all year. There is too much natural talent there to not make an offense with a reasonably potent running attack put up 24-35 points a game.

1. He may not suck this much all year, but he may not be very good either. His numbers in non-Moss games last year were rather pedestrian. Add that with a total lack of a running game this year and their O is looking decidedly mediocre.

2. Even if #1 is wrong, their defense *is* every bit this sucky and 24-35 points may well be good enough for only a .500 win percentage from here on out.

I expected a little bit of a fight, at least. The next couple weeks will shake some things out but I'm liking the Bears's chances at this point.

The Vikings blowing has as much to do with the loss of Matt Birk as it does with the loss of Randy Moss.
