Whatever happened to?
I'm getting ready to go out the bar on Friday night when my roommate wanders in with some friends from dinner.
He brings with him two guys; The first, kinda skinny looks like Art Garfunkel, and the second is a 5'9" fat guy, maybe 29-30, earring, athletic clothes, leather jacket. He's trashed. He's speaking semi-clearly, not overly wasted but still pretty drunk. He introduces himself as Corey, very nice guy, compliments me on my vintage 1980 Bluejays cap with the mesh back. Nice guy, really aggressive though, very in your face, but a good guy it appears. He mentions something about a bar he was at once, I ask him where it is, and he explains that he lived in LA for a little bit. No biggie. We chill, shoot the shit for a while and head downstairs for a cigarette before the bar. Corey and "Art" take a cab elsewhere, and roomie and I head downtown. We're sitting there, and he offhand mentions Corey who's having health problems due to old drug abuse problems. I suggest that vacationing in LA might not be the best idea for someone in that spot. "Oh, he wasn't vacationing there - he lived there for years." "What?" "I forgot to mention his last name; that was Corey Haim." |
