Getting Comped

Ok, It's my first trip to vegas where i'll be playing something other than poker. I've got my blackjack basic strat down cold and know the best craps bets. anyway, if i'm playing $100-$200 a hand of blackjack I know I should get treated pretty well given i play for a few hours a day.
I'm staying at the mandalay bay and want to make sure that they're keeping track. what's the best way to do this? should i speak to someone specific while checking in and let them know I'll be playing black chip craps and blackjack? should I just show up at the tables? Also, does the amount you buy in for make any difference? If I buy for 2K or 8K will it matter if i'm betting the same amount either way?
