There's many good celebrity poker players out there, the problem is they're stuck in the same games as the bad celebrity players.

The WPT should scrap the Hollywood Home Games and just set up a "pure" (no pros) Celebrity Invitational tournament for charity instead of basically giving pros a free $300K (200K for the invitational and 100K from the HHG's).

agreed. If we want to see any good poker on these shows there needs to be some qualification for their spot. Make them read something by Sklansky or something. Don't just give them a hand rankings card and say 'go.' I think the celebrity tourny would be good and just show the final table but i think they would have a hard time finding enough celebs for this. Please no one argue that it is good for the fish to watch this kind of poker.

Gabe Kaplan (the guy from "Welcome Back Kotter"). He won a bunch of major tournies in the late 70s and early 80s. He doesn't play much now, but from what I've heard he was damn good back in the day. And I don't mean good for a celebrity, but good overall.

The problem with a pure celeb tournament would be the lack of players. I feel that a lot of these celebrities show up not to see and play against each other, but to play guys like Hellmuth, Duke, and Jett. To some of this people, they are the celeb's celeb.

James Woods is pretty good. I've heard he has a degree from MIT and his IQ level is around supergenius. Now, that doesn't make you good at poker, but it couldn't hurt. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

The problem is that it's hard to find good players for all their shows that will be good. Remember, they're trying to make money, not educating the populace.
