OK, I can\'t get a consensus....HU vs. Mad Genius
Final table of the 150+12 on stars last night. It's down to 2+2er Mad Genius and me. I know he is a 2+2er because I checked up on the MTT thread about the tourney and he was posting in it. He doesn't know who I am because I rarely play on stars and I didn't post in the thread.
Important (to me) setup info When we were 3 handed, Genius came over the top of my SB steal raise, I folded, and he talked a little junk to me. It was apparent he was sick of my incessant blind stealing. Also while 3 handed, I was called a few times when I raised preflop, and postflop, I checkfolded and checked behind pretty much every time I didn't improve I've min-raised Genius 2x already in our HU battle. Blinds: 6k/12k/600 I'm dealt red aces UTG/OTB/SB. I minraise to 24k. He calls Flop: 2s 4s 8d He checks, I bet 24k, he raises to 60k, I call. Turn: Qs He bets 48k, I raise all-in for 168k more. |

Re: OK, I can\'t get a consensus....HU vs. Mad Genius
call the turn, don't push. pushing is gonna fold only hands you beat. as for a scary river, a 4th spade is going to help you not lose money to a small flush more than cost you money against a one pair hand.
unless you think you are bluffing here? but i cant imagine him ever folding a hand that is beating you. so, still just call. |

Oh great, just what we need, you're playing tournaments now?
Nice finish last night. I don't think you're moving him off of a better hand, so you're probably only getting called if you're behind. I'd try to call down most likely. |

I meant, that if your opponent has a small flush he very well might slow down not that you will find an easy fold.

How big was his stack? [/ QUOTE ] Gonores had me covered by a little bit, but I'm pretty sure the winner of the hand was gonna most likely win the tournament. |

Re: OK, I can\'t get a consensus....HU vs. Mad Genius
I hate disagreeing with MLG because it usually means my game is in the toilet but I liked the way you played the hand.
The way I look at it is the pot has 170k before the turn. Not sure what the turn bet means, middle pocket pair that wants to get away cheap against a queen or a flush, some kind of pair plus draw, bigger hand maybe? You only have 220k in front of you and the pot is already that big. I am at that point more worried about taking down the pot than having hands that are behind fold. I feel they might well call an all in with a hand you have beat a reasonable amount of the time anyways. My thinking is I am not getting away from my aces, the pot is big, and I am happy to make him pay to draw to 11 outs if that is the case. |
