Re: Absolute phone number please help
Absolute Poker, anyone have the number, cmon someone has it. I looked at their website and I can only find an email. I emailed them so hopefully they will get back to me soon.
So I get this phone call today from a bill collector who says Absolute entertainment has secured their services to get collect a debt from me of over $13,000. We talk for a while and he has no details at all, so we talk again later after he contacts absolute entertainment. I'm telling him I know 100% for certian that I don't owe any money. He calls back and says that is is actually Absolute Poker. And they are positive that I owe them a over $13,000. That I can settle out of court by paying 50% of the total, or they will proceed with legal action to get the full amount. Now I've never received one email or phone call from AP regarding this. But I just tried to log into my account there and apparently it's been closed. I cashed out all of my funds their on the jul 11th so the account closure is not a problem. After this fiasco I doubt I will need the account in the future anyway. I was almost wondering if this was a phone scam. Why would they offer to let me pay 50% of the ammount the first time they contact me? While I was on hold once I hear that the collection company name is OMS. So I did a search and there is a collection agency called Oxford Management Services. The guy seamed professional and he did have the email address from my AP account, so it at least appears to me that it is not a phone scam. Anyway I was trying to get in touch with AP today before the bill collector goes home for the day, which looks like is not going to happen. It's just incredible to me that I have received no contact from AP. The bill collector did say that AP has tried to contact me at that email address, which is incorrect. And I know that their email is not getting filtered out because I get the bonus offer email occasionally. This makes no sense, and it makes for a lousy day. AP should have their stuff together better than this. I only transfer money there with my netteller account, which I have checked to be sure there was no odd activity. So how could I possibly end up oweing them money. And if some moron hacked my account somehow, why wouldn't they have contacted me instead of send this straight to a bill collector. |

SCAM!
Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, must be a duck.. Creating a sense of urgency is a key component to both salesmen and con men. Even if there was some wierd case where they have you down as owing them money, what are they going to do today? Give it a few days, cool off, think about it, and try to reach Absolute through reasonable means.. email, etc. I didn't think these folks were in the business of lending money anyway.. How in the heck can you have a debt with someone who doesn't lend money? If you are foolish enough to provide someone with 50% payment without a) thinking you owe it, and b) proof you do, then I want you to send me $2000 to get them off your back ;-) I need a decent bankroll... |

Got the number
AP says I do not owe them money. So I don't know whats up, but it may not be any fault at all of AP's. It's not a phone scam. I called back the collection agency using a different number than I was givin by the original caller. I got the number off of their website. Asked for the guy by name and he was not in but does work there.
Confusion sets in..... |

I am having the exact same thing happen, but one thing I can assure you is that Oxford Management is legit. I work for a company who provides a service to collection agencies. Oxford is one of our biggest customers and one of the biggest collection agencies in the US, so this isn't some goofy phone scam. Also, I just got off the phone with Absolute and they will not answer any of my questions until I face them the letter from the collection agency. Did they do the same to you or did you just persist until they started to answer questions. |

Re: Got the number
I got a phone call, not a letter. So far AP says I owe them nothing, but I was not in town to get back in touch with the collection agency. I thought that they might call me back, but they did not. The last time I talked ot the collection agent I told him I spoke wiht AP and they let me know I did not owe anything. He was going to check back with AP and get back to me.

Re: Absolute phone number please help
as someone who deposited and cashed out (both via neteller) a sizable sum out of Absolute Poker recently, this is scary.
Y'all definitely should keep us updated on what's going on with them. |

Update
Just called the collection agency and they figured out that it was an error and closed the case. Apparently they weren't going to bother and call me to tell me. Such BS, and I will likely send an email to AP and let them know how I feel about their collection agency. They call at first it's a "very important legal matter" and need a call back asap. It's gets resolved when it turns out to be an error on AP's part, and they don't even bother to let me know.
If anyone has opinions/experience on this final issue I would appreciate comments. I asked if I would get anything in the mail stating that the cased was closed. No of course I won't. So I have a letter saying I owe money; an email from AP saying that I do not; and some guys word that the case has been closed and I will never have to deal with it again. It just feels like I should get a letter stating the account has been closed. Comments? |

Re: Update

if this guy won't send you one, i would send a certified letter, signature required on delivery. inside i would have a self addressed, stamped envelope for return. i would include a letter that outlined the situation and ask them to sign that they agree it was a mistake and please mail back. this dude's oral agreement can come back to haunt you. try and get all the evidence you can and just hope that it is never needed. |
