You're best bet, really, is to go shopping with a friend whose taste you trust and who has a similar style and/or body type.
But I don't understand how you're getting dates if you don't know how to dress. MySpace?

Nordstrom will have 1 and 3 AG are sometimes harder to find, but I think they are the best jeans around - if you have Saks or Neimans I would go there - they may even have them at Nordstrom these days, but I don't know. I can't really give a reason as to why other than they look sort of tight in the crotch. But Im probably way out of touch with what's in.
