AKo is costing me
Not sure if the 25NL are too micro for anyone to care about. Any advice on this hand would be good as AKo is one of my big losers. Mostly it appears to good luck on the opponent's part (flushes, pocket aces etc.) However I am trying to migrate from tournies and limit to NoLimit. Do I have to pay off the possible flush or would a turn bet have told me all I needed to know?

Re: AKo is costing me
The flush got way, way, way less than it could have, so I really don't see a problem here. Also rebuy to the max preflop.

Re: AKo is costing me
i don't like the flop min-raise. either call or make a real raise ($8-9).
good check behind on the turn. and yes, you have to call that river bet. after showing weakness by checking the turn, you've induced a bluff from a lot of hands that you beat. |

Re: AKo is costing me
The reason you are losing money with AK is that you are not playing aggressive enough.
1) Do not min-raise the flop. With TPTK and nut-flush draw, you probably have the best hand, and if you are not, you are the favorite vs. 2-pair and even money vs. a set. Reraise to at least $7, push all-in if you get re-reraised. 2) Do not show weakness on the turn by checking. Bet 3/4-1x the pot. 3) Ok, if villain makes it to the river, it is OK to check behind. |
