Live play u have unlimited rebuys as long as u have money. You can exploit the small edges based on pot/implied odds (untilize the math of the gaming situation).

Tournament play requires survival skills to make it to the money round. (1) You may have to give up on coin-flip situations early in tournament rounds, (2) You can't aford to make any mistakes on player-reading skills; (3) You must protect you holdings with aggressive action; (4) You must not get unlucky ; (5) You must get lucky in the right spots.

1) applies only if you feel you are one of the better players in the tournament. If you are outclassed by the field and you know it, you should take close decisions early on.
