Default $10/20... Marginal 44 in MP...

Assume unknown opponents. I think my PE computer was down at the moment.

Hero is dealt 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in MP

SB bets, BB calls, Hero FOLDS...

I also fold 44 preflop from 2 off.

I hate raising. What does it do for you? I would call and see what happens.

I'm definitely not calling.

It's raise/fold for me here.

Very important point: This pot is HUGE and I want to maximize my chance of taking it down. Not raising gives any hand correct odds and no fear of seeing a turn.

Fold will clear out CO & Button from any hand that didn't hit the board + some pocket pairs. If they call, I'm out of this hand save a 4.

If SB 3-bets, I can figure out where I am much easier and will fold the turn without a 4.

We may (but probably won't) fold out the BB. At the very least, we find out where he is and get initiative for the rest of the hand against him to make him fold something with outs on the turn.

Fold is the other line with merit.

I am raising this from 2 off, however. Nothing lower, though.

I see it as a raise or fold situation. You call and the people behind you are definitely seeing a turn. And if you are ahead here, pretty much all of the deck is gonna scare you.

Getting people out (or waking up someone with a Q and getting out easy) would be the #1 priority IMO.

You might get people out here, but odds are you will get it down to you and the guy with the winning hand.

Edit: The "reverse isolation" principle strikes again.

That's the question I guess. BB's call didn't scare me at all, obviously, and SB could be 3-betting pf with hands I beat.

I suppose it comes down to a simple odds calc. I just felt like an ass folding this pot getting like 8:1 minus reverse implied on a play for the pot and felt I either had the best hand or would find out really quickly.
