Default Why more casinos need to implement this rule...

At the Wynn casino in Las Vegas, they have a unique rule (only place I've seen it anyway) where you have to wait till' the next dealer to hand back an absent button, and if you have two, you can only give one back at a time. Most casinos will have you picked up if you get 2 absent buttons + 15 minutes.

At the Bellagio, I was playing in a game where one player used his max time and came back one minute before he is supposed to get picked up. He played a couple of hands and left for another hour and fifteen minutes. I felt this was rediculous as he just wanted to keep his stack in a max buyin game.

Do you all like the Wynn rule to prevent walkers and agree with me?

I don't understand the rule.

You're not allowed to play again until the next dealer?
This would be weird....and annoying to the players who want a full table.

Clarify further so that B&M novices like me understand what exactly you mean.

I played at the Wynn twice when I was in Vegas and they were doing an absolutely AWFUL time keeping our table full.
It was weird....the video-screen showed a wait-list of 15 people or so for 15/30....yet we had 3 open-seats and they weren't calling anybody.
We actually only had 5 players...because some other guy had left $1 at his seat, said he was going to get more money, and never returned for over an hour.

I don't mind playing short-handed....but the rest of the table was pissed that we were 5-handed when there was a lengthy list. One guy suggested we take a break until they fixed it and everyone agreed (I had to go to the little-boys' room anyway).
I made a phone-call as well and came back about 10 minutes later...and they STILL hadn't filled the seats.

I love the Wynn room...and actually like the extra space you get on the 9-handed tables.
I also believe that our situation was not a typical occurance for them. But the way the players had to practically beg the floor to fill the seats did not impress me.
Finally they picked up that one guy's dollar too.

I agree that changes should be made about players who sit-in, play 5 hands, sit-out for an hour, and then come back for 5 minutes.

I don't know why I feel like I'm one of the few players who is courteous enough to actually pick-up my chips if I'm going to leave.

Also - those getting the poker-room rate have to get their hours in at the tables somehow. So they leave their chips there so that they stay on the clock.
That...and the $1/hr food-comps might be a factor.

Yep Fort McDowell in the Phoenix area has this.

You get a "missed blind" and absent button the first orbit. Get two absent or three missed blinds and you are picked up.

If you have an absent button only a new dealer on the 30min push can take it back.

You do get to play right away bob. But instead of handing the missed button back right away (and clearing your missing status), you turn in one per new dealer. This means you can't leave, get button(s), come back, hand them in, and then leave again for a long time. You have to wait for the next dealer and hand in a button then. If you have multiple buttons and you did this the clock would still be running on you if you left the table after only turning in one button as you would still have one button left.

I think it's an excellent rule, every casino should implement it.

The second half of your story is pathetic. Alert the floor already to what the guy is doing and get the jerkoff picked up.

An excellent way around the no-playing while still comp-getting, room-rate qualifying for tactic is to do like MGM with their automated system. They clock your ass out when you go take a LEAK, let alone disappear for an hour.

I think that'd be a great rule. I'm going to mention this to the floorman at my room.

Mandalay Bay has this rule and enforced it once against Clarkmeister and myself.

The result: I pocketed the Absent Button and now use it as a dealer button in my home games.

Don't be such a nit. My attitude is, let him walk all he wants. What's it to you? Are you so terrified of playing 'short-handed' that you have to fill the seat up.
