folding AA in satelites isn't that big of deal.. it's folding them in freezeouts that makes for interesting convo.

In fact, I did instacall. UTG turned over A2s and SB had AK. Feelin' alright, as I am an 82% favorite to bust them both. But the flop came J-2-2, and I was dead to runner-runner jacks.

whoops i meant you shouldn't fold but if it came runner runner jack the board is j-2-2-j-j for jacks full of aces so you must not be right here or really got screwed by not knowing. Just woke up after a hellish night of drinking.

If the board is J22JJ and you have AA, you have Jacks over Aces.

in this situation absolutely not, play to win. If you fold here there is no guarantee you will win any more and you could lose anyway.

well there is a guarantee .. two = short stacks are in vs each other. ..

however it's not enough of an improvement (and your situation if you lost isn't bad enough) for it to even be considered

Surely you are almost certain to knock one of them out so will end up in the money (and presumably did) and will only have half the stack of chip leader if one of them beats you. If the structure is flat you are ok if you lose - if it is steep the advantage of having 20k chips vs 7.5k HU is huge.

Here's a case where you should fold 'em:

Your "friend" has been dealing all night. He has been dealt quads three times, and has rivered a flush to beat your set on three occasions. He frequently shoots his cuffs and winks at the guy in the corner.

You're ahead now, but will definitely be beat by the river. Fold.

Easy call, tough beat. C'est la vie.
Hell, you were in a pretty awesome situation, against two players with Ax!
Don't think twice about it. It's not like it's a satellite where the top few places pay an entry and you're one away and someone who has you covered moves in and gets two calls or something.

NO. Call call and call every time in this situation. Everyone has relatively short stacks... you get dealt pocket aces, get a chance to push all of your chips in preflop and you are thinking about folding???
The fact that you lost is irrelevant to the situation. You were a huge favorite to win preflop. Calling is definitely +EV.
