Its a live MTT(1 rebuy 1 adon) 22 entrants.
The Freezout has started, Dont have much read on villan but he is a loudmouth that played semi tight and is a bit passive.

Blinds 150/300
Stacks: Hero(~7500) Villan(~10000)

Hero is Sb
Villan is utg

Villan raise 600, utg+1 call, folded to hero, Hero raise 3500, BB fold, Villan (instantly) All-in, utg+1 folds

Any thoughts before i put down my on analyze of the situation?

I can only wonder what you were thinking.

A. You describe Villain as not only "semi-tight" but also "a bit passive", and yet you don't think a UTG raise from him is a sign of substantial strenght?

B. You make a more-than-pot-size raise (why?) for more-than-half of your stack. You are obviously pot-committing yourself here, so why don't you just push?

C. You voluntarily put all of your chips at risk against a UTG raisor with a hand that by far the most of the times either will be a small favorite or a huge underdog?

If you had pocket queens I'd say there could be some merit to your play, even though I'd suggest a much smaller raise.

Playing TT like this is just plain bad.

theres just no need to make such a big reraise. if you're going to raise, make it like 2400 or something. then you can realistically get away from it if he pushes over the top.

however, against the player you've described, i'd probably be more inclined to just call preflop and play the flop. it sucks because i'm out of position, but what i'd like even less is to raise to t2000, be called, and have to deal with a pot on the flop thats only slightly smaller than my stack, against a likely very strong hand.

When in doubt think up a spurious rule. Spurious Rule for Reraising: reraise 2.5 times the original raise. Obviously I tailor this to the occasion, but this seems to serve me well. IOW raise to 1500, fold to a reraise and hit your set if he calls.

However, in this case against a tight UTG I would simply smooth call and proceed cautiously.

NB My standard PF raise is also 2.5BB once past level 3.

Good point, missed that. If you're intent on raising you'd have to bump it up a bit more. That makes it even more of a call for me.
