Default 88 Poorly Played

Live 3/6 at Ameristar Casino in KC, MO. Table is full of fish as it always is. However this hand I think I was the fish. Any help much appreciated. Hero is UTG+2 with 88 and it's a kill (6/12).

Preflop: UTG raises, 1 fold, Hero calls (which I think is the worst mistake of the entire hand), folded to BB(very lag) who is on kill, makes it 3 bets, we both call.

Flop9.5 SB) 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
BB bets, UTG calls, Hero calls (Again, I am not happy with this call either).

Turn6 BB) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
BB bets, UTG folds, Hero calls $9 all-in.

My thinking here is that getting exactly 9:1 to call this bet wasn't so bad. The off chance that I'm actually ahead coupled with my small chance to draw out I thought made this "okay." However, I really think I butchered this one. Please help!!

I think you should raise the flop and hope the LAG BB 3-bets with his KJo and that this drives out UTG's AQ. Short-stacked on that flop, I think you want to go to showdown (especially when a very LAG player is the one showing the most strength).

Preflop, I'd imagine you expected more callers behind you, but one problem is that, since you're short-stacked, you lose most of your implied odds for when you flop a set.

So I'd probably fold or 3-bet.

neither the preflop call nor the flop call are terrible, although i think i'd prefer to raise preflop.

what's terrible is that you're all in on the turn bet. if you don't have enough money to be capping every street, you shouldn't be playing the hand.
