witha taggish opener and an unkown beting the flop is OK. looks fine

IMHO, I go on shutdown w/ this flop holding 88, especially if there is a raise in front of me. Chances are very good you don't have the best hand, and you have no draw (except the remaining 2 8's, which ain't much of a draw)....

Considering that he got the free card to suck out on a 12 small bet pot, and it only cost him 1 small bet, he had the odds to draw two cards to two outs. (10.6:1)

However one of his eights was a spade and shouldn't actually be counted as a full out. This is made up for by the extremely small yet still possible chance that they both fold the flop. It seems really stupid but I have actually taken pots this big with one flop bet, and it usually happens on scary flops like this one.
