That was my first thought as I read the hand. The king was just as bad of a card as the Queen was. The push is awful IMO. Jacks and Tens will not call, Queens and Kings certainly will. AQ will not call. AK would maybe call, but would not have called the flop. You are pretty much shutting out the hands u beat and giving it away to hands u don't. After that King comes off I'm in check call mode and will not feel good about big bets from this point forward.

And you're called by KQo and you lose.

That King was a trouble card for you because the only real one pair hand that you can be ahead of now is AQ. If he has AQ, it's an easy muck for him. If he has KQ, he's going to look you up every time.

This is one of those situations where an all in bet is giving your opponent and easier decision to make when you'd actually like the confuse your opponent.

He knows exactly what you have. That preflop raise couldn't have made it anymore clear. He knows what he has to beat and he's counting on the fact that you'll overplay his hand to give him the implied odds to try and hit a head that beats yours.

A loose call preflop by 88 is also possible along the same premise that I spoke of before with the KQo. He knows the hand that he has to beat and that cold call on the flop shows that must of the time, you can't be ahead here unless he's a huge donk.

What's calling you here that you have beat?

JJ, 1010 are folding. QQ, KK and KQ have you beat. AQ is folding the turn after the K hits, and AK is folding the flop.

I can't see anything good about your turn bet, unless you're trying to get QQ to fold by representing kings, but I don't think that's going to work all that often.

I guess I would check and see what villain does; it's a pretty shitty spot, though, as any bet that villain would conceivably throw out there on the turn would commit you if you called. Hopefully, you know something about villain's betting patterns; unless he's a total retard post-flop, I would very much consider check-folding to a big bet on the turn.

basically, the stakes affected my play. i went with the idea that the pot is big, and its worth taking down right now before he draws out on me. does this idea hold no weight?

Think about what hands he's calling preflop with, and which of those he's calling the flop with.

The turn push is awful. I'd imagine normally you'd get called 90% of the time, and 100% of those times you're beat.

Yeah, I plucked those figures out of my ass, but you get the point.
