Re: 10/20 Limit HE, 10 seat Hand - could you have gotten away from it?
Your bet on the flop is fine IMO.it puts pressure on the MP and protects your hand.CO raise means nothing still.I raise here with AK/AQ often against typical oponents. The key to this hand is the check on the turn. Now if he has an overpair as his flop raise suggest no way he`s checking here.He must bet to protect. If his turn check means AK then what do u get by 3-betting the river? He is either on a total bluff -raise(and folds to a 3-bet) or he is trapping with a monster.Ask yourself what kind of hand can he have to :raise the flop, but check the turn and raise you on the nothing river.BTW set of 4s on the river is totally in line with the whole play.
Math: u gain 1 bet some of the time but lose 2 most of the time. Keep playing smart not HARD. |

Fold pre-flop, though you could safely call here with a strong read on Villain (which it doesn't sound like you had).
Flop is good. Turn is good. River is even good I think. I would have put this guy on 44 long before I put him on QQ. What a bad turn play on his part. |

Re: 10/20 Limit HE, 10 seat Hand - could you have gotten away from it?
I would have folded preflop. Moving on:
'I put him on an Over-pair on the flop' me too, somewhat. 'If he had a set of 10s, he probably would have waited until the Turn to raise me.' prob. 'When he checked behind on the Turn, it seemed to me to scream AK' yep. but where was your final thought! When he raised the river that screams 'never AK'. So that leaves QQ. Call. |

Re: 10/20 Limit HE, 10 seat Hand - could you have gotten away from it?
Would it be wrong to just call the raise on the river instead of 3betting it? Almost everyone who raises on the river has a hand which he think is at least 98% sure to win the showdown. I hate having to fold two-pair on the river. I want to at least see what he has so next time I can figure out what he's doing. If you make it 3bet and he caps I don't see any hand you can beat here unless he has a QT too.
