Help downloading spyware protection.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this? I am trying to clean my computer of some spyware. I bought Lavasoft Ad-Aware and when I try to run it I get a message

SYSTEM SHUTDOWN. System shutdown is initiated by NT Authority\System. Windows must restart because Remote Procedure Call(RPC) terminated unexpectedly.

I have WIndows XP. DOes anyone know what this means? I have emailed Lavasoft support but I don't think they work weekends.

That sounds like the MSBlaster worm. Removal tool Then get the patch from Windows Update (In internet Explorer: Tools > Windows Update.) Also, turn on the Windows XP Firewall if you don't have another one running.
