Is this a set?
Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.50 BB (10 handed) converter
MP2 ($21.20) MP3 ($75.15) CO (Villian)/ ($111.15) Button ($49.25) SB ($33.75) BB ($17.25) UTG ($10.65) Hero ($82.75) UTG+2 ($75) MP1 ($32.90) Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1.75</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, MP2 calls $1.75, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, CO (Villian)/ calls $1.75, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB calls $1.50, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>. Flop: ($7.50) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font> SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $6</font>, MP2 folds, Villian calls $6, SB folds. This guy seemed to be a pretty knowledgeable player. Can JJ be ahead here? It seems like an obvious hand to put me on, and he can't be expecting me to fold. |

Re: Is this a set?
$2 pf. I like pot betting the flop, but this is a situation where you can make it 2/3 or 3/4 though, way ahead or way behind situation imo. When I get called on the flop i'm not happy. Turn is tough, and I would check/call here, because again i'm way ahead or behind here, and unless i know this guy to be a bluffer, once i call the turn i see a free river. The way you played it's probably a set, but most definitely a fold. Calling these bets is a good way to get stacked.

Re: Is this a set?
Looks like you're toast here. Being a 2+2'er I'm going to guess that you have a fairly tight image (maybe I'm wrong...) so it's pretty meaningful to a decent player for a tight player to bet twice. He probably puts you on a pocket pair, and he's trying to win as much as possible with whatever hand he has that beats you (87s or set). His raise is too small to be a bluff.
