Thankfully, he had created several horcuxes to keep his soul rooted to the Earth rather than pass to the afterlife. He had learned this advanced piece of dark magic from an old friend at school. The Earth-rooted sould of Ace decided to hide in a forest in Oregon hoping for some unfortunate sould to come across him.

The Oregon woods were a favorite spot of bored teenagers looking to smoke pot and fornicate after school. Chosing a host to recieve his immortal soul was going to be pure ecstacy for Ace.
