Default PokerShare - CROCK!

For all those of you who think PokerShare is such a GREAT idea, want to see what these great business minds are doing with money that would otherwise go to you under their profit sharing?

Fox News story link

4th story down :

Gambling Site Offers to Buy Town's Name

MORGANTOWN, Ky. (AP) — An online poker site wasn't bluffing when it offered $100,000 to have its name stamped on a community.

Officials at PokerShare.com are offering that sum if the western Kentucky hamlet of Sharer — which has no city council, no grocery and no post office — changes its name to PokerShare.com.

The proposition has Butler County Judge-Executive Hugh Evans scratching his head, but he's not keen on the idea.

"I can't speak for everybody, but certainly speaking for myself, this isn't going to happen," Evans said Thursday. "When you talk about poker and gambling, we're not for that in our county. It's very conservative."

First dibs went to Sharer because of the similarity of its name to PokerShare.com, said Darren Shuster, a public relations agent working for the poker site.

He found Sharer by doing a MapQuest search on the Yahoo search engine.

Sharer, established on Feb. 15, 1900, was named for Postmaster Moses J. Sharer or his family, according to the book Kentucky Place Names. The post office closed in the early 1980s.

Great point Iggy. This whole profit sharing thing has train wreck written all over it. What's next, $1 Million/bonus for their VP to get a tattoo of Pokershare?

The profit sharing thing is probably going to be pretty worthless. Still, Pokershare is nice because it's just UB with better unmentionable.

What money was wasted? They are Trolling Fox News. NH on their part. I wont be playing there, because of legal concerns. There aint no small town in Kentucky that is going to sell out to a gambling site. Lots of them countys are dry, can't even buy a beer. Bible Belt. Good People though, Im not raggin them.

Exactly...plus even if they do spend their money on stupid stuff, you still will get SOMETHING extra in addition to the above mentioned unmentionable.

Also, its not a bad idea at all, they havent spent a dime and they are all over the news and your posting about it in a public forum so thats pretty good exposure.

While we're on the subject, what's with Golden Palace buying all the weird stuff on ebay. How is an online gambling site going to have a travelling museum? I don't get it.

Same thing as this. They do it to get publicity.

Doesn't seem so bad to me, lots of free publicity. They probably didn't plan on buying it anyway.

Yeah, just like Golden Palace didn't pay a buttload of money for a grilled cheese sandwich with the Virgin Mary, or to name a baby, or to buy a dorito chip that looks like a pope hat, or bought Robby Gordon's heltmet, or bought a car Pope Benedict used to own... oh wait, they did this AND a lot more.
