Default SSHUSH Digest #1 - December 7 2005

Small Stakes Heads Up & Short-Handed Digest #1
December 7, 2005

Welcome all to the first installment of the SSHUSH digest. For ease of finding level-appropriate posts, they are marked thus:
[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] - 0.5/1 and 1/2
[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] - 2/4
[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - 3/6
[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] - 5/10
- HU
not limit-specific; theoretical questions or polls.

These posts have of course been selected as quite useful, providing theoretical concepts, or a good argument that should be bumped so those who missed it can stick their oar in. Enjoy!

People who submit posts will be thanked, as per POKhER's comment:
[ QUOTE ]
Who do i pm? Do i get a sexy little "Thanks to help from POKhER and .... and ..." at the bottom ? That'd be sexy haha

[/ QUOTE ]
because you are all sexy.

Finally, we will sometimes feature links to MHHUSH so that we all learn above our stations too.

We will also notice that this post is my 1600th, marking my entry into Pooh-Bah-dom, which was what compelled me to take on some responsibility.

(all the crap above will not be here next week!)

"Making him fold a better hand"
Saborion making a player fold a better hand when ace hits the turn. lots of argument about hand ranges and best play.

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
"98s and I play goofy and/or with l33t skillz"
Dids tries to PF isolate two the donks in the blind with 98s UTG. Ends up playing a solid opponent OOP. Cue fierce debate.

[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
"TT prays for a good turn card and gets..."
Aaron W at 5max - TT still an overpair on the turn, but trouble ahead...check or bet turn?

[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
"Earning one's Bet-Fold merit badge"
ArturiusX is folding to the turn raise. Thanks leader for sourcing lots of fold-to-turn-raise threads. Always useful.

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
"omfg"
Pokerbob's running bad, and needs sanity check. A lot of reassurance and a lot of concensus, this one is in to show us that some decisions that should be simple can be affected. An extra [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] to PokerBob while the swings are hurting.

"Fighting the SuperLAG: A Checkup"
RunDownHouse post on methods to handle loose-aggressive players. Thanks adsman for prompting this bump.

[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
"Need a line check in the BB"
Bozlax flops the OESD and 3rd nut draw after a PFR. checking his lines, a lot of comments. Thankyou MrWookie for your sourcing of the thread.

"Reads"
MrWookie cites Entity's post on taking decent notes.

"The (un)Definitive Blind Play Links"
dietlime's Digest in a digest, links to play out of the blinds. An offering by leader.

"Open Raise UTG (Poll)"
"Open Raise from MP (Poll)"
"CO open raising standards"
Krishan completes the vanilla, chocolate and strawberry trilogy of openraising off the button.

from MHHUSH
"3-betting HU from the BB"
Kurosh wants to know people's ranges. Props to Guruman for sourcing this one.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Previous Digest will be linked here.

If anyone wants a less cluttered digest, less/more links per week, different content etc., please PM me as I am open to suggestions.

Regards,
Pete Harris

Hi Peter-

This is a fantastic digest. I've read about half these threads and can't wait to dig in to the other half.

This is great, Peter. Is there a particular time frame people should have in mind for sending you links? Perhaps a particular day of the week?
