Default DVD ripping

After much googling and downloading, I have decided to turn to OOT.

I got a video IPOD for xmas and I want to copy some of the DVDs I own over to it.

It seems they are all copy protected DVDs.

What is the best free dvd ripping software to rip protected DVDs? If not that, what is the best dvd ripping software that costs money. If I have to, I'll pay

Also, what is required to rip music CDs?

thanks

My favorite DVD ripping app is called DVDShrink. It's awesome. (I'm not really sure it's right for your ipod. I really just wanted to say "I <3 DVDShrink".)

my friends and I are amassing quite a netflix dvd collection and have found some good free software

use DVDShrink to rip the DVDs (if you are not going to be burning onto double-layer discs youll have to turn on compression)

it is available at this site
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi...dvd_shrink.cfm

i recommend nero for burning the dvds

This is the correct answer. DVDShrink is the best freeware ripper on the market.

Audio ripping requires EAC on secure mode. Use this guide: http://www.ubernet.org/index.php?p=UberGuide.

DVD ripping is complex. To get stuff onto your iPod, use this guide: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html#1000, which walks you through using the Videora iPod Converter and DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, the best ripper there is. DVD Shrink is good for making dual-layer DVDs fit on single-layer DVDs, but I should really let the people at http://www.doom9.org talk instead.

I also use DVD Shrink, but a lot of times you have to use it in combination with DVD Decrypter to bypass the protection. Also, Decrypter can be used to burn the DVD if you don't have Nero
