261-4

Terrible decision by Koertzen to give Strauss N.O - clear edge. England have had by far the most luck with the umpiring decisions.

Another monster 6 from Flintoff!

267-1

More than edged imo. We're going to be 100+ runs short unless the tail wags hard.

Still its such a high pressure game that runs on the board may be worth a bit more than usual.

Man, it sucks that I can't watch any of this action.

How did McGrath look? Looks like he and Lee may have got tonked in the first hour or so as England racked up 85 or so runs in the first hour or so. Anyway, it's an indication that the poms were not simply playing for a draw and were looking to be aggressive from the get-go. Flintoff appears to have been of that mindset too.

BTW, what's the weather forecast for the next 4 days? It would be a pity to have a weather-dictated draw.

McGrath bowled ok but not his best - lacking in the usual accuracy. The pitch is a belter, very hard for seamers to do much which is why England are in a spot of bother.

Met forecast just has light rain on Sat and Sun, so looks okay.

I know nothing about cricket but how can you not know who is ahead at the end of the first day?

Because Australia has yet to bat. Technically, the score is 319-0 for England, but you have to consider how many runs have been scored and how many men are out (wickets) and compare it to what you would expect in thie situation.
