Default inducing a bluff on the turn

I constantly find myself bluffing the river too much when the turn checks. This time I decided to see if my opponent felt the same way.

SB - Posts small blind $0.50
BB - Posts big blind $1
CO - Posts $1

I figured this to be a good spot, since I would have to check through the river if I bet the turn and got called.

It's not bad. I'd prefer doing that with JJ than 99, but 99 is far better than 66. The flush draw isn't scary because it would need to be runner-runner. You should really develop reads on players when you're not in the hand so that you don't waste too much money experimenting when it's your money going in the pot.

Any reads?

I think this might be a better place to bet the turn with fold equity and take the free showdown. I'm still not sure when to apply that play, though.

BTW, there's a nice Absolute converter here. You have to make sure the seats are in order. Follow the directions here. (I'm assuming you're still on Absolute.)

I like it. Not really worried about any draws. Compared to betting the turn and checking behind on the river, you lose the same if you're behind but also "earn" 1 more BB when ahead.

Maybe some reads would be helpful, though.

I dont really like it with that hand. I want a hand with outs to make that play. Something like KJh. But maybe I have got it backwards.

True - if villain would call the turn when drawing and bet the river after missing. The thing is, a hand like KT (admittedly a worst-case scenario) has 10 outs against us. Do we want to give them a free river?

I don't know. These are just my thoughts. Like I said, I don't really know exactly when to apply the concept of betting the turn and checking behind on the river.

The spot to do this is if a free card can't hurt you very much. Here, you could get borked by a T, J, or a K that might have folded to a turn bet. As Dubya said, this play would be better with JJ. It's also good against players who'll bluff c/r the turn.

I'd fold the river. This isn't inducing a bluff as much as throwing up the white flag as I see it.

was waiting for someone to suggest this, it certainly looks like a river fold to me.

that said, i wish i could see the pot size throughout the hand like a good converted PP hand woulda given me

He's getting 5.5:1 on the river. (If my quick arithmetic is correct.)
