Default Limping in from SB as big stack?

Sitting with say 20X the BB or more and 2-4 callers I will usually limp in from the SB with subpar hands like say q-9s or 10-8s stuff like that hoping to flop trips or two pair to take out a small stack or maybe a nice draw to put a shorter stack to the test. Those are cards normally I would just throw away if I didn't have a ton of chips to back me up.

Is that something i'm going to be getting good value for or am I just pissing away my chips?

That's not a big stack.

50x BB is a big stack. That being said, I think it's okay to complete on the SB w/ suited 1 or 2 gappers, and certainly small pairs after a couple of limpers. I would want at least a 20x stack to do this, though. It also helps to have a passive player in the BB.
