Default $100 NL, Top Two to a Massive River Overbet

Reads: Not too many. Seemed to be fairly tight/solid but I don't have much experience with this guy.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (8 handed) converter

UTG+1 ($76.10)
Hero ($112.30)
MP2 ($25.40)
CO ($48.05)
Button ($47.90)
SB ($85.85)
BB ($131.10)
UTG ($32.40)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
2 folds, Hero raises to $4, 4 folds, BB calls $3.

Flop: ($8.50) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5, BB calls $5.

Turn: ($18.50) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB bets $8, Hero calls $8.

River: ($34.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB bets $114.1 (All-In), Hero folds.

Final Pot: $148.60

I usually bet more on this flop, not sure why I didn't here. Expected a fold. But when I got called. I just said, ok, maybe AQ. I was very surprised when he lead the turn and didn't know what to think. Should I have re raised the turn? Is this a standard river fold? Comments on all streets welcome. Thanks.

I would pot the flop and reraise the turn. As played, probably good fold.

Thinking about it some more, I don't know what a turn raises accomplishes if he flat calls. Still a tough spot.

He is either the biggest idiot in the world or he has a set of 5's. He put you on AK and let you lead the funeral procession. I think this is a good fold.

FWIW - If he is a maniac, he will give you his stack eventually.

Thanks for the input. I don't think he is a maniac. He never showed but I'm certain 55. The massive overbet is just what confused me. The great thing is that hopefully next time I fill up on the river and instacall the maniac style bet.

Id reraise him on the turn. If he indeed have 55 id expect to lose my stack here. As played, I guess you made a good fold, the only hands you are beating are a5 and a7, the rest of the sets are beating you.

replace the king with a deuce. are you still willing to lose your stack? because it's the exact same hand in both cases unless villain is pretty bad.

river is an easy fold. the line he took is a set 95% of the time.
