Default It seems offensive somehow ...

... to see a locked thread in this forum. No doubt the threads were excessive but not really inflamatory or particularly objectionable, IMO.

Can we get them unlocked? I dont plan to post in them, just trying to get rid of the worrisome evidence of locked up lines of thought.

Yep. When certain people are tired of discussing a subject we all have to be.

The locked threads I have seen have been:

1. Duplicates of other threads on the same topic; or

2. Threads that have degenerated into the genre of "Did so!", "Did not!"

If anyone has any example of a locked thread posing an original idea not discussed at proper length, I'll pay for a lap dance at the next LV gathering

Perhaps you are right.

However, there are many threads on New Orleans, Iraq, Islam, Bush's incompetence, Liberal incompetence, Republican strengths etc.

Second, many threads become you said, i said -- the best solution is to ignore them. If two people want to argue incessantly past each other, well welcome to political discourse.

There are no original ideas on this forum.

And if it wasn't for those there wouldn't be 10 posts a day. That's what is hilarious about locking threads in this forum. And like you said, people can always ignore various ones if they want so who cares if others continue on beating a dead horse? In this forum, threads should either be deleted if they violate the T&C or moved if they don't fit, and there is no good reason for locking.
