Re: Results
Nice read of your opponent and great call. I was really surprised by the results as I was expecting 99 or 88. I didnt expect AA either, but very nice read. GH

I would not get into a habit of making this type of call.

Re: AK OOP 10/20 Party
Why not re-raise PF? Was the 13/7 worrying you? If so, why not fold PF?

Re: AK OOP 10/20 Party
I hate to just call with AK OOP. To me it's re-raise or fold depending on the opponent and the raise. I think I would fold to this opponent rather than just call. But I was curious about the poster's opinion for not re-raising. I guess it's self-explanitory though given the posted stats.

Re: AK OOP 10/20 Party
I don't reraise precisely because I'm OOP. This was I check the flop and he bets almost everytime regardless of if he hits or not. This allows me to make the decision of whether or not I want to play based on the board and his bet. If I reraise all the pressure is on me and he has position.
I don't like to reraise all that much with AKo anyway, If I miss the flop my opponent probably has a big pair to call me down with, if I hit it's easy for them to fold their big pair. Not to say that I never do it, but it can get tricky and I don't like the situation I find myself in OOP. I guess I'm just a pansy. JKratzer |

Re: AK OOP 10/20 Party
I play AK just like you Kratzer. I think it's tough for a lot of players (even tight players) to lay down overpairs on a rag board even with a reraise. For example, if a 9-high board comes down, your going to have to bet the full pot with AK out of position and hope he folds. I would rather play it like you, and checkraise a continuation bet if I hit with AK. Espcially since you may entice a MP limper to call the CO's raise and get some more money in the pot if you elect not to rerase.

Re: AK OOP 10/20 Party
I think of it more as an initiative re-raise and there's an advantage to you acting first if the player is not moderately aggressive. Most of the flops are going to miss you.
Re-raising puts you in the drivers seat on the hand and puts a lot of pressure on QQ-JJ-TT and AK before the flop and I don't mind taking down a smallish pot if we see the flop and an A or a K hits. - Jim |
