Default awkward situation, 23o

Well, I haven't posted a hand in awhile. Thoughts?

Villain is a pretty decent TAG, possible 2+2er.

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls, MP calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Button calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero checks.

Flop: (4.40 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
Hero checks, UTG checks, MP checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, UTG folds, MP folds, <font color="#CC3333">Button 3-bets</font>, Hero?

Fold?, Call and check?, Call and donk?, Cap?

definitey fold to his 3bet. I might have folded to his initial bet. I know it sounds weak but a solid 2+2er could easily have 33-66 here or like A2s/K8s, etc. I don't really see a solid player betting any 2 here like a normal player might. Plus one of the other guys could have you beat already and be slowplaying. I don't have a problem with the raise, but you definitely need to fold to the 3bet.

I agree with folding to the 3-bet. One thing that is relevant about how to handle the first bet is how bad the two limpers in between them are. This information is likely to determine whether the tag's betting range is quite narrow or quite wide.

easiest fold ever. i 3bet trips here all the time to induce call downs from hands that are drawing dead.

if it's not trips it's 33-77 trying to protect his hand, or a better 2 (A2s, maybe K2s).

Agreed. What do you expect to accomplish with a check-raise in a 4-person pot? You probably won't get anyone to fold and almost any card that comes beats you. You're also drawing dead to any other two.

Is the secretly implied word of your post "overstatement"?

To go into details, our equity sucks, even if we have the best hand.

If we have the best hand our equity does not suck. In fact it is very good.

I prefer to give actual reasoning into why or why not OP should do something rather than just say 'I agree, check/fold'.
