Default Help me out on this 6/12 Live game

Takes place at Artichoke Joe's in the S.F. Bay Area and I've been sitting at this table for about an hour. For the most part, table is typically loose/passive. My read on button, is that he only raises with a big ace and he calls with his big pocket pairs to slow play them (yeah I know, brilliant strategy).

Artichoke Joe's 6.00/12.00 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero calls,1 fold, MP+1 calls,1 fold, CO calls,Button raises, SB folds, BB calls, Hero calls, MP+1 calls, CO calls.

Flop: (9.66 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
Checks around to Button who bets, BB Folds, Hero???

I'm fairly confident he's auto betting his big ace which misses here. Also keep in mind that this table is full of the typical live game donk's who would usually bet out if they caught some piece of the board regardless of the preflop raise. Do I have enough to raise? call? or is this too risky and I should just fold?

how could you ever possibly justify that preflop call?

I don't get it. AJ's now gives out hand histories?

Given your read, check-raise. In fact, it sort of seems like the information you are giving to us about the button is made in a pretty explicit attempt to justify a flop check-raise... (Just messing with you...)

I think limping here at a loose/passive table is fine; a few people responding probably don't play live enough and don't realize how many hands you can play there at the right kind of table.

Flop play is a classic chance for a promotion raise is you are pretty confident about your read AND you are pretty sure that most of the intervening players will fold to two bets cold. If you don't think that will happen, check-raising is likely just to build a big pot in which you have maybe only 5 outs or fewer to improve and are giving massive reverse implied odds when you are ahead (which will be rare if you get a few cold-calls).

Yeah, didn't you know? They started giving them out after they started raking from the pot instead of making the button post the rake

No, you're right... I probably laid it a bit thick, because I knew what the right thing to do was, but when it came to doing it, I turned into a bad poker player. This hand bothered me for days, as I played this hand horribly wrong. On any given day, if you asked me to analyze this hand outside of the poker table, I'd say exactly what you and everyone else had just said... check raise. Unfortunately, I froze and turned weak at the poker table. The turn is simple, so let's jump to the river...

Artichoke Joe's 6.00/12.00 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Checks around to Button who bets, BB Folds, Hero calls, MP+1 calls, CO calls.

Turn: (6.83 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero checks, MP+1 checks, CO checks, Button checks.

River: (6.83 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero???

check/call? check/fold? bet/fold? What if button bets with his Ace high? Would that be an opportunity to check/raise to make sure it's heads up at showdown or is the board way too coordinated to try anything?

Id like this preflop call a little better if UTG limped too. Any other Ace will probably limp too based on your read..and would have you dominated..Given your read of the guy he doesnt seem to fall in to the typical loose passive mold.
I know live is pretty passive, but I would fold in this position.
