Default Palm Beach Kennel Club

I am getting ready to go down to Palm Beach and play some exciting 1-2 limit hold'em action at the Kennel Club. One of my friends told me that the sb and bb are both $1 and that raises preflop can be either $1 or $2. Does this sound correct to anyone? If it is true I thought I read in a book that I should always raise the max. if I am presented a choice. Should I do this if in fact I have the option? Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

The blinds are 1 and 1. You can raise in increments of one. If no one has raised, you can raise to 2. If there is one raise, you can raise to 3.
