Check raising you on the river would have been a bad move by him, betting into you was the correct play. Of course he was foolish for not 3-betting you, but thats typical of the weak-tight players we find in AC.

Assuming you know he is the type to only call a river raise, then I like a raise here. If you are going to lose a hand, make sure you lose the maximum!

3betting the turn if he wont reraise with less than a set might be good, but without knowing how weak he is, I just call.

I think if I had three bet the turn and he rereaised I could have folded the river without hitting a spade.
