Stopped by the Bellagio 5 Diamond Tournament
I watched some of the final table of the Pot limit Omaha event. Those guys looked really tired in person compared to how they look on tv. Barry Greenstein looked like he just gone a couple rounds in the ring against de la Hoya.
And yes, I saw TJ Clouite shooting craps. He didnt have much money on the table though. I though about shooting some craps with him, but I was already down $400 shooting craps for the trip and I hate $10 min bet craps tables. In retrospect I wish had |

Re: Stopped by the Bellagio 5 Diamond Tournament
I saw Greenstein playing two handed 1k minimum bet blackjack at Bellagio once last summer. He looked tired. He lost an audi ~ 45k in 20-30 minutes. He walekd away with absolutely no emotion. I later was watching Deeb and a few other high rollers playing a game of pineapple outside the pokeroom...looked to my left and there stood Greenstein watching motionless looking again tired. 3 hours later Greenstein cashed out up something like 280k up from poker...yes again looking quite tired. There is a moral to this story. Its like this when you are an superbrain no fear monster player who has seen it all (ungar, greenstein, Brunson..) being tired might be a disadvantage but with that 190 poker IQ you still usually end up crushing the game.

#1 Barry Greenstein ALWAYS looks tired.
#2 I am AMAZED that any pit boss would allow BG to play BJ. The chances that guy doesn't count cards seem astronomically low to me. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm sure BG counts cards, but I'd also think that, given the action he gives at the poker tables (not to mention the attraction of a star poker player at the casino), they'd be willing to let a little card counting slide. Then again, I don't know squat about casino policy. |

Re: Stopped by the Bellagio 5 Diamond Tournament
Further, it would entirely depend on how many decks (the adv. varies), but without any empirical data I would say he was clearly not counting cards in this situation as it's a long run game where the benefit is found in placing small bets when the deck is against you and large bets when the deck is in your favor, which necessitates more than 45 min. You also probably don't want to make 1K bets when the deck is against you unless you plan to make 100K bets when the deck is in your favor...

This is probably the best-publicized leak in the history of poker, with the possible exception of Stu Ungar's, you know...dope habit. Wouldn't you think that at SOME point, SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE could convince the man that he's a POKER player, and as such, playing games where the odds are stacked against him seems a little ridiculous? I understand the nature of compulsion, believe me. But it's such a stupid compulsion. |

Yeah, that's pretty amazing about T.J.
I think everyone who plays with him at a tournament table should say to him, "Hey man, when the break comes, want to go play some craps?" |

He was at the craps table pretty consistantly when I was there. I watched for a few minutes. Leak.

[/ QUOTE ] No offense, but this shows an inherent lack of understanding of not only BJ card counting, but also advantage gambling in general. It's not like the deck needs time to warm up or anything. It's all one long session, whether you do it 45 minutes at a time, or 8 hours at a time. Also, NO pit boss is going to allow someone to spread 1-100K, period. Methinks this is a case of a little knowledge being a bad thing. |
