Re: Is Ken Warren actually a winning player?
I think he beats the Friday night 10/20, atleast during big conventions. Possibly.

Re: Is Ken Warren actually a winning player?
[ QUOTE ]
Remember though that Warren practices outstanding game selection by seeking out young players, players with tatoos, and off-duty casino employees. (This was one of my first poker books too. Borders should have been held criminally liable for stocking Warren but not any 2+2 titles -- this was long before the poker craze). [/ QUOTE ] vnh This was my first poker book as well. Wow. Looks like we all got started on the wrong foot. |

Re: Is Ken Warren actually a winning player?
That's where I read the thing about players with tattoos. A friend loaned this to me when I started getting into poker more seriously. then he gave me TOP. I couldn't remember the tat thing.
I was always curious. Why does he say that? I have a couple and I was wondering why that makes me an easy target. |

[/ QUOTE ] Because he's probably one of the same jackasses who look at my Slayer and Napalm Death t-shirts I wear when I play, my shaven bald head and goatee, and automatically peg me as some wild looseass who's going to throw off all my chips to them. An image I help to foster by playing almost every hand I'm dealt the first time round the table. And when I go into my normal tight aggro game immediately after that, you should see how even my most marginal value bets get paid off. In other words, they judge me by my -appearance- rather my -substance-, and more often than not pay through the teeth for their presumption. Yet another reason you shouldn't listen to a damn thing Ken Warren, whoever the hell he is, says or writes about poker. --Scott |

Re: Is Ken Warren actually a winning player?
Wow I really can't believe this was my first book ever like it was the first book of so many players here. That is how the man is making his money, that's for sure.
And remember kids, always watch out for people in the blinds, the could have anything! |

Re: Is Ken Warren actually a winning player?
Hi udbrky:
I believe his comments about tatoos is picked up from John Fox's book Play Poker, Quit Work, and Sleep to Noon (which is just about draw poker) since similar comments appeared there. Best wishes, Mason |

[ QUOTE ] Sell it on Ebay, it will help to increase the fish population. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I like your thinking [/ QUOTE ] A group of us who play a weekly game got together and bought it as a birthday gift for the guy who regularly hosts the game. I guess we chose well. |

The best thing Warren has going for him is that he's not John Patrick.

Re: Is Ken Warren actually a winning player?
i dont need to ask arount to KNOW that this guy loses a lot of money. his book is nothing less than an embarrasment. if i were him i'd make some story up and pull it off the shelves.
but then again, he's probably making a lot of money on it. Good. more people turning into fish from reading it. |
