Default Vegas trip this weekend, few questions.

Hey fellas,

My buddy and I are going to Vegas this Thursday->Saturday and I haven't been there since I started playing online (been to AC/FW though). I play 15/30, 20/40 short online and would be interested in something like 20/40->30/60 (MAYBE higher, but only if its worth it) Anyway, I had a few rather important questions.

1) Are certain games better certain nights? Remember hearing something about the Mirage 30 game, but not every night, etc. What would be prime picking for Thursday night, Friday night, Sat. noon?

2) Are any casinos more sympathetic to poker players? For instance the Borgata gave us a discounted room given we booked XX amount of poker hours. Right we are planning to stay at the Palace, but that's tentative.

3) Anyone here planning to be in Vegas during that time period?

Thanks a bunch,
arkady

Went to the Mirage a few months ago. Great poker room and one of the larger ones on the strip. Other nice rooms are Bellagio, Wynn, and MGM. When I was there they had a handful of 2/5 NL, bunch of 1/2 NL, and a few tables of 10/20 Limit. Rest were 3/6, 6/12 L. You'll find the bigger limit games at Wynn/Bellagio.

I play pretty regularly in the Bellagio 30/60. As my one friend put it, "it's a money machine."

Sometimes there will be a few good players, but often enough the game is Party 1/2.

Edit: if you do particularly well in the online 15/30 and 20/40 games, you may want to give 40/80 at the Mirage a try or even the 80 game at the Bellagio if your bankroll allows. The 30 game will definitely be well below the level of competition you are used to. Although maybe that's good while on vacation.

Great response, that is what I was looking for. Are there particular nights that are better than others?

My BR online is quite different than my live roll. Honestly I don't like slinging a ton of cash around. I am thinking I will bring 3k and would definitely try the Bellagio 30/60. I would just have to drop a limit if I dip below 2k methinks....

But money machine is definitely intriguing...didnt or doesnt Mason play in the 30?

Mason used to play 30, but now plays mostly 80. The 30 at Bellagio used to be tough, but those days are long gone. Now, it is a loose festival of action a lot of the time, or just passive and tightish, but not tough at other times. I say, if you're uncomfortable with the stakes, wait till later in your trip and take a $1500 shot at it if you're even or ahead at all. Also, the 15 at Bellagio is almost always great.

Cool about the Mason tidbit, maybe I will look for him and present myself as someone he never heard nor cares about.

I am comfortable with taking a 1.5k shot at the 30, as long as I can do it on a Thursday night. If it is a tight game I will just leave. How many tables of that do they spread?
