Default Commerce Casino- Running it more than 1 time

I just started playing the NL600min buy in at Commerce with 10-20 blinds. With these high stakes, I have noticed that a lot of people decide to run the river more than once. I understand the concept and how it works, BUT WHEN DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS THE SMART CHOICE TO MAKE? What kind of examples can anyone provide to when and not to when run it more than once.

it's a smart choice to make if you want to decrease variance. It doesn't change the EV of the situation.

Could you explain to me what it means to run the river? Is this checking it down basically?

You deal the river twice, and split the pot in two parts.
