I'm going offline for the night and I won't be playing in tonight's events. I've just caught up on my password request PMs. If anyone still needs it, Simon Diamond says he will assist, so PM him or post your request on this sub-thread.

I may have PM'd eMarkM too late for you to respond. Please send me the password...

Thanks!!!

The tourney starts in an hour - if you want to play, drop me a PM and I will sort you out with the password. 23 registered at the moment, it would be nice if we could get double that to make sure everyone at the final table gets paid.

Default KOTZ Schedule

I just looked at the schedule for the first time today, and I understand that this is how the schedule was last year, but seriously why such a heavy emphasis on the hold em events?

6 NLHE events
4 PLHE events
3 LHE events
1 stud, 1 stud 8/b, 1 PLO, 1 PLO 8/b, 1 Limit O 8/b

Also all the HE events except for the heads up one have $30+ buy ins, while all the non HE events have $20 buy ins. I know theres nothing that can be done this year, but in the future I'd like to see a more evenly spread schedule. However, I realize I'm probably the only one who feels this way.

Man, not playing 12 events really creams your ranking. No top ten!

During the first season of KotZ, there were 6 hold'em events. When Ed took over the organisation of the events from me, he wanted to incorporate Omaha and Stud into the calendar - which if I recall correctly, wasn't that well received. Most posters wanted to keep most of the events as hold'em ones, and some even said they would not play in the non-hold'em events.

As a compromise, the majority of the events were kept as hold'em ones, with a selection of other games to satisfy the tastes of people like yourself. I think the non-hold'em games are $20 events to try and get more entries, as they are perceived as less popular events. That's how I remember it - really I should search the archives for a definitive reason, but that is not as easy as it used to be...

FWIW, you are not the only one who likes the non-hold'em games - I generally enjoy the non-hold'em games more, because the playing field seems to be more level in them.

I missed out on most (all?) of the events last year, I'm going to do my best to play in all of them this year (or at least all the hold'em ones). Looking forward getting things started tonight.

Continued thanks to Simon and ed for all their hard work.

Peace,
J
