Default Unethical play at the table

I'm in a sng, one player goes allin on the flop - it is JJ9 - I call with KK and the third player in the hand takes forever to call and finally says I have AA. Now a guy who isn't involved in the hand says call, the guy does and wins. Now, I think the guy was going to call anyways but the guy butting in is cheating to me. What are the official rules about something like this and would Party do anything about it?

This is something that happens constantly. I wouldn't give it much thought, just get over it. I'm not sure i would've called an all-in with a pair of jacks on the board, didn't you fear trips?

You forgot to add the part where the guy cheated. What was it? Aces in the sleeve? Marked cards? I'm asking because I am failing to see how the talker conferred any advantage to the guy with AA.

I don't think poker is a partners game. Perhaps you do. I can't imagine that if this happened in a live event that it would be looked upon well.

If you read this I say it's cheating to me and then I asked what the rules are. Have to be a lawyer these days, gees.

Send the hand history to alerts@partypoker.com

Let them know you are not happy with the chat during the all-in. They will most likely warn the player. If he is a repeat offender they may revoke his chat.

This is clearly against the rules. At Pokerstars, chat is disabled whenever a player is all-in.

I think that this should be standard practice - I would really like to see it implemented at Party. Its incredibly frustrating to have all of your chips in the middle of the table and seeing someone's time clock wind down while the rest of the table goads them to call.

And it's always call isn't it...

Calling someone a cheater is the most dramatic thing you can do at a poker table. To claim that a player cheated, you have to show how he played with an unfair advantage.

The talker, while annoying to you, isn't giving a shred of advantage to the player he is goading. I am not aware of standard tournament rules, but it would appall me to learn that the psychological aspect of the game were outlawed.

Now, I would agree with you if the other player had reached into the muck and had shown that he folded AJ or something similar.

But talk is just talk. Would you cry to the floorman if you were holding JJ?

if another player (or observer) attempts to coach another player on how to play their hand, i always report it to Party.

it falls within the universal "one player to a hand" rule. coaching is not allowed-- even if the coaching is not taken seriously.

Party usually sends me an email saying that they have suspended the offending player's chat.

I'm not sure the exact penalty at the casino where I play, but I think it is fairly severe for this. Perhaps ejection, at least a substantial time penalty. In all live tournaments and cash games this is quite illegal and will get you in trouble. If you don't want to call it cheating, fine... we're not linguists here.

I agree it may be unethical, but it can also work to your advantage. In a tourney the other day, sitting utg with 55. Butoon raises I call. Flop is 582r. I go all-in. His clock sets running down while everyone keeps telling him to call cause I bluff all the time, yada yada yada. He finally calls, I take the pot. Everyone then was telling him sorry.
Like someone else said, If you would have been holding a jack, you wouldn't have minded his call.

Later,
Rick
