Bustout in 200K party tourney on AK
Hi, I was wondering what people think of this play I made in the 200k Saturday tourney on party poker. There was 21 people left in the tourney and 20th place got $2000 where as 21th got $1500. Places 10-20 all got the same $2000 amount. The $500 was a huge amount to me also since I normally don't place in tournaments this big.
Anyways I have 66,000 in chips and theres 3-4 people left with less chips than me. Blinds are 5000/10000. I'm in middle position and have AKo. There's a raise to 23,000 in front of me and I push all in. Blinds folded and this guy thinks about it for like 30 seconds and calls with A9. His 9 is a spade a 4 spades come so he wins. I know everyone says play to win or whatever, but should I have waited here to it gets down to 20 people before I play a hand? I could have easily waited it out. |

Re: Bustout in 200K party tourney on AK
If you really wanted to leak into 20th you should have just clicked auto-fold and not even look at your cards until someone else busts. Pushing is correct and you got in against the best possible holding to be against. Dream situation. Give me a chance to double up w/ AK vs. A9 on a short stack w/ 21 left in the 200K and I might break my wrist from the furiousness with which I push my digital chips into the pot.
