Poker sites generating random numbers

Hi, I was wondering how the majority of poker sites generate their random numbers? Are they using a pre-written rand() function or do they make their own? Also, what do they use to create a seed for the beginning of the sequence?

It is my understanding that the majority of sites (at least the major ones) now use hardware randomization.
