Re: Blind Raise From The UTG Player counted as 3d blind
[/ QUOTE ] There is no advantage to straddling and I have yet to see anyone make a convincing point for why it's a good thing to do. [/ QUOTE ] really disagree. i generally straddle 70% of the time in a 2/5 game and 20% of the time in a 5/10 game. i won't get into tripling and doubling straddle though. it just creates action to be honest. and it might be -EV every time you look down and see 82o, but the few times you get the winning hand it usually results in a nice BB pot. just pretend you are playing a 3-blind system. maybe my 'logic' is flawed. like i said, i tend not to do it in bigger games (ie: 5/10) but at lower limits i feel it is a must to create some action and loosen the table up. (only if needed of course) |

[/ QUOTE ] Considering you couldn't even recognize a live straddle when OP described it to you, I could see how you might be mistaken here. I straddle very rarely, but when I do, it's because the table has gotten really tight. I usually play 6/12 and those games shouldn't be tight, so when it happens, one or two live straddles wakes everyone up. Yes, it is a -EV play for the straddle hand, but if you put someone on tilt, make your image better, or get the action at the table going again, you can quickly make up the bet or two you "threw away" with the straddle. On that note, if you do it regularly, you don't really need to soften up your image because you're a donkey. |

just pretend you are playing a 3-blind system. [/ QUOTE ] Right. Except that you're the only one at the table paying the third blind. Brilliant! |

In a casino named Radisson in the centre of Sofia (the capital of BG)
Game is Texas Holdem Pot Limit. Blinds vary from $5/10 up to $20/40. Why are you asking :-)? |

Re: games in Bulgaria
Most Nyc games even allow sleeper straddles except from the button. I have seen it used intelligently in a shorthanded tight high blind game.
