He doesn't take himself too seriously i get the exact opposite impression [/ QUOTE ] Really? If you don't mind me asking, why? To me, the general sillyness and willingness to say goofy things makes him a very good PbP guy. And he can turn it off in a heartbeat, when he needs to. Perhaps you feel like he's "trying to hard" to be funny, which would make it seem not genuine? |

Re: Best and Worst Sports Broadcasters
[ QUOTE ]
Is this some kind of bizzare parody? I have no problem with women announcers. Pam Ward does a fine job. [/ QUOTE ] No. The few times I have heard Waldman, I honestly enjoyed her announcing. I have no problem with the concept of women announcers either. I commented because, in my sheltered life, I haven't heard a woman announcer other than Waldman, only sideline reporters (don't watch much CFB, haven't heard Ward). And I think this has more to do with prejudice by the networks (or their assumption of predjudice by their viewers) than with overall ability. And it's nice to see that changing, at least a little bit. And for the Yankees fans who say she's terrible, maybe I've caught her on good days. Or maybe we'll just differ on this one. |

Re: Best and Worst Sports Broadcasters
I think a basic problem with chicks as announcers is their voice. Women's voices are too high pitched and squeaky for announcing. That Jeannie whats-her-name on Fox is horrible. Tom Brenemann (who I like BTW) even smoked just to get his voice tone in the right place.
MAybe if they could run their voices through some type of converter........ |

Worst Anything: ESPN Sunday Night Football crew [/ QUOTE ] I love the sunday night crew, the unintentional comedy is through the roof. As for play by play Bill Raftery. |

[/ QUOTE ] The unintentional comedy can be golden, but to have to sift through the other 80% is torture. I try to avoid Sunday night football at all costs. JP Dellacamera is good. |

Re: Best and Worst Sports Broadcasters
Dan Fouts is a moron.
It seems week after week we listen to him make broad, over-reaching statements, that are often just incorrect. Also, he must possess some rare sight ability, as he often will say, "watch this" to prove his point, and yet his description of the play never seems to come through on the replay. |
