Re: When NOT to add on?
When you have so much chips, that your chipcount is the same as what will be the average chipcount for when you are in the money or at the final table.
Meaning never. This is FAQ material btw, gets asked at leats once every two days. Can't somebody write a stellar post on it that are worthy of inclusion in the anthology? |

Re: When NOT to add on?
Seems that looking to see the chip count when in the money is meaningless.
If when u buy those extra chips but you're not going to be able to put them to use for a long while, then the purchase seems meaningless. For example: At break: avg stack is 5k (assume 7.5k after addon), you have 22k. no one else at your table has over 7k. It will be a long, long while before those extra 2500 you buy will be able to be put in a pot. Essentially someone has to double up TWICE, AND get in an all-in pot with you, or you're going to have to wait SEVERAL blind levels before those chips can enter a pot. seems meaningless to me to do the buy here, regardless where the avg stack will be at ITM-time. -Scott |
