Default How good is your Limit Hold \'Em?

This is actually a pretty good book. Not too much of the weak-tightness that I was expecting, and gets the game textures about right for typical Party 10/20 through 30/60 type games.

I have been enjoying it as well. There are some plays I do not agree with, but for the most part the advice is pretty sound and working on the hands is a fun train distraction.

Thanks Nate. I respect your view. Have you changed your opinion about the hand discussed here?

Does it reccommend 3-betting a tight UTG raiser with KJo? Jim Brier made that play against me.

I bought the book, but haven't read it yet. I will now.

I have a question. Hand 9. I agree with the play the whole way. My one question is, say TheMan (the villian) raises u once again on the river...do u still call or fold?

Advised course of action for those that do not have the book:

You hold 55 in the BB. TheMan open raises in the cutoff. You call. (pot is heads up)

Flop is J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
You bet, he raises, u call

Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Bet, he raises, u call

River: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Bet, he folds

One thing I discovered during the recent Vegas trips is that a lot of 2+2ers don't play nearly as tight as they post. I wonder if the same thing isn't true for Jim.

He didn't raise the turn in the example given in the book. FWIW I would find a river raise extremely suspect and would call down.

Misread the hypothetical turn play thinking it was the actual turn play.

I definitly think the books line is the best, most solid line you can take in a situation like this. IMO.

how bout c/r the flop and betting the turn? Also, I don't see why betting the turn is best or why calling a turn raise would be good. Do they give reasons to why i would be wrong?
