You're raising for value and protection, but mostly for value. On the turn you're a 10.5:1 dog getting 4.6:1 odds immediately and possibly facing a 3-bet/cap, so the decision should be super easy.

Yup, your hand is not marginal. It is pretty strong, and you have redraws.

No it's a terrible play to just call the flop. He's not trying to protect his hand. He is raising for value, because the flush and straight draws are going to call anyway. Also they're not folding on the turn either even if you raise it up.

Anyway aside from that, I lay it down on the river.
