Default Trop

I play exclusively online but will be heading to the Trop in AC soon. I mostly play $2/$4 online. I know that at the Trop that in the $2/$4 the $3 blinds are raked no matter what. My bankroll is $2300. My question is if I would be better off playing the tough rake 2/4 that I normally play, or make a temporary jump to 4/8 (they don't have 3/6) to offset the rake structure?

How long are you planninh on playing? I don't worry about my bankroll when I play live. I usually play 3/6 at the Borgata and I don't have $1800 in my bankroll.

Anyway, play the 4/8 to beat the rake. I can't see very much difference in the play between the games. Good luck!

I am going to just take a bus up for the day. Brain, thanks, that's what I was leaning towards. Hope I run well when it means more!

First of all the rake is 10% up to $4, no flop no drop. Secondly your bankroll does not warrant a jump from 2/4 to 4/8, but it is large enough that a one time shot shouldn't hurt it too badly. The game usually plays quite loose. Play solid poker and you should do well. Good Luck, BKism

When you're playing small stakes live poker, it's not about the money, it's about entertainment.

Go to the Borgata and play the 2/4 or 3/6 there. The room is nicer, the waitresses are hotter, and with the better comps at the Borgata the EV differnece is less than what you'd pay for a movie.

2-4 online plays about as tough as Trops pink game(7.5-15). Your bankroll can easily handle that game for a weekend...

I was at the Trop about 3 weeks ago with some friends who are poor college students, so I decided to sit at the 2-4 table with them.

First off, I believe that the pot is not raked unless there is action and a flop seen.

Second, that game is perhaps the softest I've ever seen. No fold 'em hold 'em against 7 calling stations per hand.

If the higher limit games are soft too, as other posters have indicated, play as high as your bankroll allows. But if you decide to play it safe at 2-4, the glut of fishy opponents more than compensates for any rake problem.

ive recently made the jump from 2-4 online to 5-10 live. the 2-4 game was 10 times harder to beat. playing live 5-10 at the detriot casinos is like playing 50 cent poker online. i regularly see playes calling 60-80% of the flops and only raising with the top 3 hands. i hope you find a game like this. if you do you'll have to tone down your normal agressive internet game slightly but youll kill them.
